Scanning of 8mm, super 8mm and 16mm film is 25 cents per foot.

A 20-percent discount is offered 16mm scanning jobs of more than 1,000 feet of silent film.

Military veterans receive a 10 percent on the scanning portion of their order. Thank you for your service!

Typical 50-foot reel of 8mm/Super 8mm film. Cost to scan (in quantity) is $12.50, $.25 x 50.

Included in the price of 25 cents per foot are:

  • Inspection of the film prior to scanning and cleaning as deemed necessary;
  • Repairs necessary for transfer (additional fees may apply for badly damaged film);
  • Add leader necessary for transfer;
  • Frame-by-frame scanning of the film in 2K resolution;
  • Post-scanning editing/restoration of proper speed and removing any “dead” sections;
  • Addition of title card describing content of the film as provided on the original reel/box or by client;
  • A HD (1080p) digital file of your film on flash drive. Flash drives provide a convenient way to view the films on your Smart TV or computer.

Delivery on a high-quality, USB 3.1-compatible flash drive is provided on jobs over $100.
For jobs less than $100 in scanning fees, USB drives are $10.00

Additional flash drives for sharing with family are $10 each.

Super 8mm sound film and 16mm optical film can be transferred at 35 cents per foot. This is complex process that requires running the film in a projector to capture the sound, a second pass on the film transfer equipment, and combining the elements in software.

On quantities of silent 16mm film over 1,000 feet, a discount of 20 percent is offered.

Please read:

  • Minimum film-scanning order is $35 plus $10 for USB drive. We must charge this to cover setup time for preparing and scanning your film. In some cases, we offer a free sample scan via email.
  • Files can be saved to your portable hard drive, which is required if you request the individual frames for further editing or saving in a lossless format.
  • When transferred to DVD, there is a $20 charge for the first DVD, $5 for each additional, plus a $10 processing fee.

Additional services, VHS & 35mm Slides

  • VHS and mini-DV tapes converted to digital. Minimum cost is $20 per tape, up to 2 hours. There is a $10 per tape charge for blank and off-air tapes. We must run the tape to determine if it is indeed blank or contains unwanted material; this ties up our equipment for an hour or more.
  • We do not transfer copyrighted material, such as off-air broadcasts and commercial video tapes.
  • Digitization of 35mm slides. Pricing based upon resolution desire and quantity, beginning at 50 cents each for a 10 mp scan (sufficient for making up to an 8-by-10-inch print). Light processing in photo editing software included.
